Eg0cide Productions started in summer 2007 as a simple way to self-publish personal works using various pseudonyms, as well as collaborative works. In 2008 it started to be more widely open to submission by other people.
Eg0cide releases various form of experimental musics, but doesn’t aim to specialize in ambient/drone music although these styles have been the most represented ones between 2009 and 2011. These last years, the focus has somehow shifted towards free improvisation and noise – not as “stylse” of music, but as ways to generate unexpected sounds and forms. Above all, I defend idiosyncratic and open-minded perspectives, regardless of the background of the published artists (from self-taught noisicians to academically trained musicians, from lo-fi aesthetics & ethics to well-polished sound design & composition)
After a year-long break between june 2016 and september 2017 I started a new serie of releases, focusing on works by long-time contributors. Since I have been involved in the organization of many live events in and around Paris (France) since 2014 (mostly with the XtetX collective, which I have founded in 2015 with a few other people), I now would like to publish some live recordings documenting the very active french DIY/experimental scene, and give it a little more visibility for a larger (international) audience, since eg0cide productions gets most of its traffic from other countries. For this precise project, eg0cide is teaming up with another french label, Apocope: in 2018 we have lauched a serie of live events that we will record and co-release as free download albums.
Thus, because of the need to focus on these precise projects, eg0cide doesn’t request/accept new album submissions anymore but still welcomes any kind of contributions to “the perfect failure (?)” project, a work in progress focusing on what different people consider as “failure”, depending on their own criteria.
Since the end of the 2000s, most of my sound works (live, recordings) are done under the name Kecap Tuyul, although I keep working on other projects, with undisclosed pseudonyms and/or anonymously, following an “egocidal” logic. But NO, “I” am not the “author” of all the anonymous recordings that have been published on eg0cide productions.
The 9 first mp3 releases aren’t listed on this site, you can find them on our archive.org page (as well as the recent releases)
