Ayato never ceases to surprise us with his “Face à Face” series. Season 7 offers new nuances in his tape experiments with his trademark components. Lo-fi beats, melancholic melodies, bubbling electronic sounds, and a delightful jumble of different voices, all clashing in unpredictable ways – sometimes chaotic, sometimes harmonious.
Recorded in the years 201x-202x, featuring tape material from aproximately 1985-2020.
Featuring voices of participants of a creative workshops led by the artist between 2010 and 2015.

N.B. . The process of these compositions consists of playing in real time two tapes with two different multitrack recorders, which gives 4 stereo sounds side A in normal play and side B in reverse added to others sounds played depending on which way the wind is blowing with the others devices. Some Loops have been created during the mixing process. Cassettes are from private collection, gifts, prepared and found tapes, archives, workshops…
