Placebo_Button : Synthetic_Baroque [Eg0_258]

Today we are glad to release Synthetic Baroque the first full length album of Placebo Button, a new project of John Beers (active mostly under the Luciftias name), using new methods to produce ambient melodic soundscapes.
All pieces are created using a generative process beginning with text prompts being fed into Dream.ai. The resulting images are then resized and processed by the image2sound Python utility, which converts them to audio using the RGB values of each pixel. The red, green, and blue files are imported into Audacity, panned to broaden the stereo spectrum, and further enhanced with reverb, EQ, and fades. Finally, the volume is leveled to reach the final form.

Luciftias : Staring into Oblivion [Eg0_256]

We welcome back long time contributor John Beers aka Luciftias with a new album of subtle droning ambient, featuring contributions of his cousin and collaborator Caleb Beers. Like most of his work, Staring Into Oblivion is based on guitar sounds, often heavily treated but more reconizable on some tracks here – and always hypnotic.

Failure Circle : Frozen Clinamen #6 [Eg0_255]

Frozen Clinamen is serie of works by Failure Circle (a solo project of Kecap Tuyul) started on autumn 2017. It follows a simple method inspired by the the possibilities of his no-input mixer set-up (and sometimes other modular set-ups) and the will to use a limited sound material in a posteriori compositions : all the sounds included in these works are recordings of moments that feature no human intervention. Frozen Clinamen #6  was recorded and mixed between March 2019 and June 2022 using no-input mixer and analog synthesizer.

Methodology
step (1) Tweaking the set-up until it produces some seemingly autonomously self-sustained sound sequences.
step (2) Stopping tweaking, then recording for at least 20 minutes without any intervention on the set-up.
step (3) Repeating steps (1) & (2) several times.
step (4) Using the generated sounds as only source in a posteriori compositions. The only variations used while mixing are equalization, panoramics and volume levels.
step (5) play it at low/high volume with open/closed window while complety asleep / fully conscious.

Paperclip Crown : Feedback Jams [Eg0_254]

Paperclip Crown is the artist moniker of Valentine, an amateur non-binary experimental, noise, and ambient musician. Their EP Feedback Jams was made by improvising with mixer and microphone. The result is quite surprising, subtle and raw in the same time.

Nicolas Tourney : Music for Piano [Eg0_251]

Nicolas Tourney is a french experimental musician and sound designer, also owner of the label Snow in Water Records. His new album Music for Piano focuses on the acoustic properties of the instrument used in various ways in order to generate rich and subtle resonances. But the artist himself says it more precisely :

“Entirely recorded in the hours of the night, in order to capture very low amplitude sounds that neighboring noises would have made imperceptible, the twelve configurations of Music for Piano reflect research on vibration. The piano used is a late 19th century German grand piano, allowing, when it is wide open, all kinds of placements, preparations, rebounds. Some drones evolved continuously for several days in a row, in order to see the gradual emergence of new timbres produced by the microscopic movements of objects inside the piano. By releasing a resonance rather than a note, the pressure of the keys then opening a void, other modes of play have required tools with a roundabout function and instruments that our daily habits have made their own.”

Mrs Dink : Bird Sternum EP [Eg0_250]

Meagan Johnson aka Mrs Dink makes electronic music, often techno rooted. She’s a member of the Rootwork Collective and runs the electronic music label Degenerate Trifecta. Her EP Bird Sternum comprises 4 hypnotic tracks of experimental techno loaded with gritty sounds arranged in a subtle and personal way.

Obstacle My Arms : OMA Remix Project [Eg0_249]

Obstacle My Arms is a solo project of Paul Harrison, who has been playing around with sounds since the late 1980s. He has been part of the noise group Smell & Quim and now does various styles using different project names. His main project throughout most of these years has been Expose Your Eyes.
On his new OMA Remix Project he delivers 8 tracks of minimalist hypnotic music, based on reworks of album And here we are. A perfect soundtrack for meditative state of a mind.
